Welcome to The Hayes

The Hayes is a 20 acre playing field in West Heath, South Birmingham. It is the home of Alvechurch FC and there are detailed plans in place to transform the area into one of the best community sports facilities in the city. The plans include a state of the art 3G/4G pitch, a stadium grass pitch and 2/3 alternative pitches catering for football and rugby for everybody, regardless of ability and age.

Community Sports for All

We look after a 20 acre site in South Birmingham called the Hayes and we have short, medium and long term goals which we believe will not only enhance delivery of sports to the area but will mean participation in grassroots football for the whole community, irrespective of age, sex, size, ability, ethnicity, sexual preference and religious beliefs.

At The Hayes Sports Partnership, our vision is to be the premier football playing and training facility in the whole of the South Midlands.

There is work to be done and we will need the support of the local community as well as partnerships with the commercial sector if we are to achieve our goal.

Short term goals

When we accepted tenancy back in June 2017, our first priority was to make the site, including the run down changing room and toilet block, safe for people to use. We painted and redecorated the premises and also re-marked 3 pitches for use by the existing schools for their sports curriculum.

New showers have been installed and the electrics have all been re-wired, inspected and tested.

The Hayes is now enjoyed by local schools, St Thomas Aquinas and Turves Green Boys School as part of their in-school and after school curriculum and fixtures and also some youth teams from Alvechurch FC.

We have been negotiating with both Birmingham City Council (landlords) and Bromsgrove and Redditch Council (Planning decision makers) for a state of the art facility with club house, stand , grass pitches and AGP which will not only provide a superb facility for the community toi play and train but will also provide sustainability for the site and Alvechurch FC.

Medium term goals

As you can see, we have already produced the Design and Access statement (PDF download) to accompany the planning application which we have now submitted to Bromsgrove and Redditch Council.

The plan provides a safer entry and exit point to the site and will mean restricted access to the existing point via the main A441 artery road. The newly proposed entrance via Redhill Road,l next door to the Birmingham City FC, Wast Hill's entrance will mean easier access and exit from The Hayes.

The car park will have 146 spaces, including 9 disabled parking spaces and even 2 spaces for coaches. There will be a turning area for larger vehicles which will eradicate the parking on the road which has been part of the underlying issue for school buses/coaches with the old access.

A state of the art 4G pitch surrounded by fencing and low level lighting will be available for hire (at low Council rates) for all members of the local community, including organised teams, schools, colleges, charities and/or individuals who just want a kick about.

Alvechurch FC will use this pitch as their main pitch and as such it will have an FA level 1star surface and be compliant with Grade C requirements, meaning promotion to the National League would be acceptable. (Assuming the players on the pitch perform!)

Adjacent to the pitch will be a stadium like stand and clubhouse with changing rooms, bar and conference facilities.

Surrounding the stadium will be grass fully drained grass pitches available to the whole community and regularly used by Alvechurch FC for Youth football.

Long term goals

Subject to planning, we would like to extend the site to other sports including rugby and tennis and construct a fitness / wellness centre for use by the whole community.

We would also like to offer pathways for people involved in football to train in all areas of the sport. Our vision is for a referee training centre to be incorporated as well the delivery of FA Level 1&2 badges, UEFA A, B & Pro Licence courses.

We will deliver courses for media, physiotherapy and game analyst studies in conjunction with further education establishments as well as providing overseas scholarships in the US.
